The council were so impressed with the song he wrote for them "My Kind Of City" that the public now see it as "their anthem" and it will be used for many more things other than the council website. If you are in New Plymouth you will hear this song quite often on ZM, More Fm, Classic Hits, Newstalk and Hauraki. The song was played at the TSB Bowl Of Brooklands on 3/11/07 for the Fireworks concert, feedback from the song was great and the public are now hoping that Shaun will include the song at his New Plymouth concert on January 10th.....and yes he will !! Oakura Tornado Relief ConcertAmongst his private shows, Shaun and his white grand piano performed a concert to help raise funds for victims who were affected by the recent tornadoes in Oakura. The concert was held at the TSB Theatre, TSB Showplace in August. Shaun was supported by two local bands, and proceeds went to the Taranaki Disaster Relief Fund currently being advertised for Tornado Relief. Event promoter and organiser, Craig Meads says, ?I was on my way to Wellington at the time and felt so helpless. Having witnessed the Tornado in Gover St the day before, I could just imagine the carnage. With my wife alone in our house at the time with no power, not sure what was going to be hit next, and then viewing the images on the late night news in Wellington, it really hit home. When Shaun, in checking up on us and how we fared, volunteered to perform a charity concert, I could not let the opportunity slip, to put back something into our community. The two and half hour show was full of up-beat music, emotion, lighting and sound effects. Proceeds from the concert were paid to the Taranaki Disaster Relief Trust. The trustees are the three Taranaki Mayors, Peter Tennent, Brian Jeffares and Mary Bourke and the Chairman of the Taranaki Regional Council, David Walter. The Trust raised a total of $12,000 which was outstanding!. These funds have now been distributed to the victims who were affected by the tornadoes. Photography Tribute DinnerShaun performed for a large crowd at Expressions Arts & Entertainment Centre to help honour Team Pulitzer & Dual Picture of the Year International winner Melanie Burford. The event was organized by Well known photographer Simon Woolf. Shaun & Simon teamed up last year for a photo shoot and a photo from that session won the Silver award at the 2005 New Zealand Kodak Gold Awards. You can find some shots of Shaun taken from this photo shoot in the "Gallery". Shaun shared the stage with Nick Tansley and Geoff Sewell from the world famous Opera Band "AMICI". Shaun performed his songs stripped down to just him & his piano. Westpac StadiumShaun sang the 'Anthem' ( The Power Of Four ) for the British and Irish Lions when they played the Wellington Lions at Wellingtons Westpac Stadium. The Power Of Four was specially commissioned by coach Sir Clive Woodward, with composer Neil Myers penning the tune and lyrics. The song will be performed before all their New Zealand games. Update on new AlbumShaun has been spending a lot of time in STL Studio's recording his new album. He is producing the album along side Troy Kelly, and the tracks are sounding great. He will be returning to the studio to complete the album sometime in October after he returns from the UK.
